Form of Government:
City of Beaufort is governed under the Mayor-Council Manager system. It has a mayor and four councilmen elected for four-year-terms. County government by district.

Transit:
Highways and Roads - Interstate Highway I-95, US Highways and excellent SC State Highways offer a network of conveniently connecting roads.
The Lowcountry Regional Transportation Authority
provides public bus transportation to a five county area. Beaufort is located on the Intra-Coastal Waterway, making it possible to deliver freight to the area by barge. Port Royal offers complete barge facilities.

Airports:
Frogmore International Airport, Lady's Island - 3 miles west of Polawana on US 21-South.
Runway: 3,430. Non-commercial airplanes only.

Charleston International Airport, North Charleston, off Interstate 526, approximately 60 miles north of Habersham. Services by Delta, United and US Air.

Savannah Municipal Airport, outside of Savannah, off Interstate 95, approximately 55 miles south of Habersham. Services by Delta, United and US Air.

A mandatory kindergarten program is provided for 5 years of age.
